Notice anything? Here’s a brain stretcher: An Asus2 chord is the very same triad as an Esus4. So in each of the examples, we are simply turning the E chord into an Esus.

It kind of leads you to wonder, why call it an Asus2? Well, the songwriter didn’t want an Esus chord, he wanted an A. Really, the only difference is, the bass player is playing an A note instead of an E note. If another guitarist or keyboard player is playing a lower voicing, you will hear an A bass note coming from them too. In fact, if you were by yourself and played the Esus triad while droning the low E string, the chord would best be called Esus. If you droned the A string, the chord would be Asus2.
